  • Jun. 7th, 2009 at 9:42 PM

I just started watching America's Best Dance Crew season 3 on mtv.com (yea i'm behind)...whoa I didn't know that 2 of the guys in the group Quest were on my favorite dance show 'So You Think You Can Dance' dance dance...Hok and Dominic! ooh I just saw this other guy that's a Clogger that didn't make SYTYCD. Is this like the SYTYCD reject season?? What sucks is that I already know which one is the best dance crew since mtv.com reveals all. oh well. I also started watching SYTYCD on youtube. It has begun, top 20!

Save Darfur

  • May. 11th, 2009 at 12:55 AM

I'm helping promote Tho's cousin's event called Soul Speak Benefit Concert. ALL proceeds go towards Darfur. If you are in the San Jose area, interested in hip hop/r&b entertainment, and/or would just like to help raise $10,000 by buying a ticket then this is your event. It's gonna be held at Santa Clara High School on May 16, 5 pm. One of the performers is Supercr3w. I think they won a season of America's Best Dance Crew on mtv. Even if you can't make it, still buy a ticket on www.eventbee.com

I've recently just watched 2 movies that I think are worth watching:

IP Man. This movie is based true life story of martial arts master Yip (IP) Man, the first to teach Wing Chun. He's also the master of the late Bruce Lee. The cinematography of the kung fu is pretty exciting. I think it came out in 2008.

August Rush. It's entertaining and if the story and music doesn't cut it for you at least you get to see Jonathan Rhys Meyers (for the girls). My sis was infatuated with him during the film. hahah Carol if you haven't seen the movie, he's the same hot guy in the other movie I told you to watch "Matchpoint"

The new StarTrek movie looks pretty good even though I was never into that stuff. Plus it has the guy from Heroes.

X-men Origins: Wolverine

  • Apr. 21st, 2009 at 12:25 AM

I just watched the X-men Origins: Wolverine. All I'll say about it (since it's not out yet) is that it blows X3 out of the water, watch out for the beginning action (Pretty awesome), and GAMBIT!!  What made it more amusing was the fact that some parts weren't completely finished so you can see the animation and props. lol I'm definitely gonna watch it in theaters when it comes out.

I love Wolverine aka Hugh Jackman! <3. I remember I really liked Gambit as a kid too in the x-men cartoons. hahaha

EVENT!!!

  • Apr. 1st, 2009 at 11:50 PM

If you are free this sunday you guys should totally go to this event:

Bella Sera, A World of Glamour

Tho's aunt opened her own flower business and she's putting on this huge event showcasing different things from wedding cakes, flowers, cards to photography. There's even a theme to each station. Even if you're not getting married, it looks amazing and it should be a fun night. It's cocktail attire so you get to dress up and go to SF! You get to eat lots of cake, food and drink cocktails for free!!

Pictures from last year's event. It looks so beautiful. I wish I could go but I won't be in the country.

I miss doing service

  • Feb. 23rd, 2009 at 11:15 PM

Medshare is an awesome non profit organization and they recently set one up here in the west coast in San Leandro. Medshare collects medical supplies that hospitals don't use or are in surplus in which the hospitals usually throw away or let go to waste. Then, they distribute it to 3rd world countries, clinics in the US, etc. It's efficient recovery of expensive medical supplies that can be redistributed to those in need. Often times it's the shipping cost that hinders them from getting good health care, thus, this organization tries to solve that. My friends volunteered with them last weekend and I wish I could have gone too! I'll call them up and set up a service day when I'm done with school. Who's interested? I guess I should also contact Aphio to do service with them. I have no idea who the new Service VPs are though.

Kenya

  • Sep. 9th, 2008 at 8:20 PM

I know life right now seems impossible for me to do this but I hope I find the courage in the near future to go on a mission's trip to Kenya. This past sunday, I was reminded of the never ending battle of the ppl that live there to survive, let alone the instability and violence that exists there. They are forced to pay rent in a extremely tiny space that can't even be considered a room. Adults have to leave their babies in care center that is literally a large cardboard box. Then there are those even less fortunate, the orphans. The babies that can't walk are forced to sit in a tiny box for the whole day because they don't the resources or the qualified people to take care of them. I cried when I saw the pictures. GRX funds and maintains an orphanage as well as a school there. Hopefully I could make my efforts to help in the situation there and take part in the Unstoppable Campaign.

I can smile today :)

  • Apr. 22nd, 2008 at 5:14 PM

Hi,

How is everyone doing? Does your life revolve around school and work? Do you guys still keep in touch with friends? Who do you miss the most? What is one thing that you regret and something that you are really grateful for this past year?

Need Caffeine Seriously

  • Mar. 22nd, 2008 at 11:54 PM

I really like studying in the MLK SJSU library. I like hogging a big table meant for 4. Each table/desk has its own outlet which is super convenient. The downside is leaving my laptop and valuables b/c it's such a hassle to move it when you really need to pee and you're alone. Good thing the bathroom was around the corner to my table so I literally ran to the bathroom, did my business, and ran back. haha I've been studying a LOT but I don't know if it is helping. Ugh It shows that I'm tired when I decide to get a coffee maker.  I'm starting to drink it on a regular basis since they have freshly made coffee at the hospital. I really need caffeine and I don't want to pay a lot of money for crappy coffee that  I can make at home. I went to Walmart after studying since it was close by and wasted 2 hrs because there were so many ppl shopping.

I decided to give myself some free time and went to downtown Mountain View to meet Krystal. I can't believe how crowded it gets there on a friday night. It took forever for me to find parking. We headed over to Amy's and I ranted about school and work. We finally made Krystal tell us that she got into med school. Sheesh She didn't mention a thing when I was with her and after another 1.5 hrs of hanging out with Amy, she finally spilled the beans. CONGRATS to her! I'm telling everyone since she doesn't seem as excited as we are for her.

Yay I can't wait to see the bf tomorrow. I'll try to get some studying before then.

My feet are small but my veins are smaller

  • Mar. 7th, 2008 at 8:31 PM

I went to SJSU Health Center today to get some titer tests done for measles and varicella. It requires taking tubes of blood from my veins. I know I have a problem with giving blood since I've never really successfully given blood before. The EMT and phlebotomist find it really hard to find my veins. The phlebotomist stuck my arm once and some blood came out but then it stopped flowing so she kept moving the needle around, which is what they aren't suppose to do. I knew this too but I thought maybe it would flow again so I let her. Finally she gave up and stuck a butterfly needle (for baby vein's) into the back of my hand. It really hurt when she did that and kept hurting. The needle kept falling off to the side because she wasn't holding it since she had to hold the tube. That was when things got really bad b/c I started to feel dizzy and then I fainted. It was the longest fainting experience of my life. I guess I didn't make it to the bed so I was on the ground for a little bit. I guess there were 3 ppl helping me. Finally, the nurse told me to lie down and took my blood pressure. She gave me some apple juice and checked my vitals 2 more times. After spending 30 extra minutes at the health center, I decided to head home. I walked out and felt a drop on my forehead. I went to wipe it thinking that it was water. I looked at my finger and it was yellow. Gross! A freaking bird pooped on me.  My arm is bruised and I think something bit my right eye because it feels bruised (like a tumor) and I can't really see that well.

Discovery

  • Feb. 10th, 2008 at 6:23 AM

Things I've learned, discovered, realized etc while being in Taiwan and Hong Kong:

-There are 2 types of police: criminal and traffic. They can regulate on their position so a traffic cop cannot catch criminals and vice versa. You can't tell between the 2 kinds on the street.
-police cars sirens are always on, letting others know that they are working. But my brother says they are lazy and will usually not pull you over for speeding or what not.
-Cars are parked everywhere and anywhere. Up the side walk, unto the curb. They block the roads and over vehicles so you're suppose to leave this card that has your number on it so they can call you if you are blocking their car.
-Tipping is not needed in restaurants
-It's courtesy to not throw garabage from one store to another store.
-There's no such thing as "NO SMOKING" in the restaurants
-There are barely any public trash cans
-Driving here is dangerous and scary. There is basically no right of way. If you hit someone, no matter the circumanstance, you are at fault.
-The roads are built weird so you can almost drive in any matter that you want. ie making what seems like an illegal U-turn etc
-2 opposing lane streets. All the cars pass the slower cars and drive into the side of the opposing traffic.
-Advance public transportation
-no dryer. You have to hang up everything and so it takes at least a day for you to be able to wear the clothing.
-Seafood is abudant and cheap. Milk tea and beverage as well.
-7-11's everywhere
-Lots of ugly dogs on the street. They are homeless because they are ugly.
-most public bathrooms don't give you toliet paper. Still trying to get use to crouching down. gross.

to be continued....

yum food

  • Jan. 24th, 2008 at 8:31 PM

Today I am officially a Taiwan noob. My brother didn't wake me up to eat breakfast so I was hungry at 11 am. I went down to the place with 8 choices of bentos and it showed samples in the display case outside. Yet, I couldn't tell which number it was because I couldn't find it. Then, I thought it wasn't opened since there wasn't anyone inside and the door wouldn't open. Later, I found out that I was suppose to press this knob instead of pulling on it. I decided to walk back to the apt complex but the front door wouldn't open. I stood there for a while until the security person came and open the door. The other security person was asking me questions b/c he thought I didn't live there. I showed him my keys and he said there was also a sensor key pad that I could not find. Sadly, my first independent day was a failure and my brother picked me up to eat lunch.

We ate at this noodle soup place. They gave us a huge bowl with lots of things inside and it only cost $3.50. There's no tax or tip required to eat out. It's so awesome! I've also noticed that they give you a big sweet tea with your meal which is included in the price on top of the other drink that they serve you in the beginning. Food here is so cheap. After dinner, my brother drove to this dessert cafe place to pay for his wedding pie that he is handing out to the bride's guest (apparently chinese tradition is that only the bride's side gets it...what a jip! hahaha). He bought me a tiramisu slice and red bean slice and it comes in a cute little box. Yumm.

Hong Kong

  • Jan. 23rd, 2008 at 11:07 AM

Instead of writing a long entry of what I've been doing here and what's cool in Taiwan and Hong Kong, I'm going to list them:

-Stayed at Lanson Place Hotel in HK. Best hotel I've ever stayed at. The plasma tv in the middle divider swings back and forth viewing the bed and then to the other side to the couch.
-Mong Kok busiest, most crowded place I've been too. Night markets galore, cheap stuff!
-Dim Sum @ Serenade restaurant with a nice view of the Star Ferry Harbor
-Roasted Goose and crispy pig skin
-Time Square. Life sized Beijing Olympic dolls. cute!
-Shopping Walking Shopping Walking!
-Masses of ppl at Louis Vutton store and subway trains
-Ocean Park, roller coasters, dolphins, seals, sharks, longest and tallest cable car ride, Steep, long escalators up the mountain.

-long foot reflexoogy massage...kinda painful but relaxing
-traditional stone pot hot pot
-milk tea for only 50 cents and only a 1 or 2 minute walk away.
-cheap yummy food
-high speed rail
-bus cards that are sensed through anything so all you have to do is place your wallet to the sensor and it'll deduct money from your account. Same with subway train cards and coins. This way they recycle them and reuse them.
-Sensor keys in addition to regular keys in order to get into the apt buildings and go up and down the elevators. I think it's a cool safety feature though it can be bothersome.
-Plasma tv, full body massage chair, and ellipitical in brother's apt are a plus.
-The shower/bathroom in the apt is awesome.
-Water savings toliets

OMG I just found out that Heath Ledger died. I'm missing all the news here.

Asia!

  • Jan. 15th, 2008 at 1:09 AM

I can't wait. My flight leaves at midnight tomorrow. I'll be flying into Taiwan on the 17th and then I leave for Hong Kong the next day!  I don't know how much I'll be updating LJ but you guys keep me updated with what your doing on here because I'll be reading it whenever I get internet. Have a great month everyone.

Fun day

  • Jan. 13th, 2008 at 12:03 AM

I had an awesome day. What's less awesome is that I usually don't go to bed till 3 am. More recently I became an insomniac once again and fell asleep around 5:30 am, this is even after lying in bed for 3 hrs. Yesterday, I forced myself to sleep early, 11 pm. I used Jimmy's sleeping tips: earplugs, breathing in and out at a constant pace. It actually did the trick but I still took a little bit of time. I woke up at 7:45 am and drove to Oakland to visit Jimmy. He took me ice skating. yay I finally get to skate. I didn't fall either =P Jimmy is quite the skater, more than I imagined he would be. hehe Then, at dinner I met up with friends who I haven't seen in 3 months because she is becoming a workaholic. Also, I watched Juno which is a really funny movie. I really liked it.
